Strikes the hours and half hours on the locomotive bell, the wheels turn while it strikes. We wound it up and it ran when it first came in, however whilst we must once have had a pendulum for it, it's now missing (although not terribly difficult to make).
The clock also incorporates a thermometer - probably reading about right, the heating in the studio had been off overnight - and an aneroid barometer, which is considerably more pessimistic about the weather than the Georgian barometer hanging in our hall. A heavy item, it would ship in two cartons, base and clock separate.
