Colchester Triumph 7 1/2 x 48 long bed lathe - stock code 11387

A venerable example of a Colchester Triumph lathe, the original round head model with L-fit chucks.

For decades the backbone of British machine shops - we've had two Triumph 2000s ourselves, the last manual machines we had before going entirely CNC many years ago. Robustly built, all geared head, substantial bearings and slideways - as the company logo declared "The World Turns on Colchester Lathes".

It's difficult to imagine a machine with better provenance for an aspiring large scale locomotive builder, having made most of the parts for first "Ursula" then latterly "Effie" - two authentic replicas of the Heywood 15 inch gauge locomotives (pictured opposite for your edification but, sadly, not included - they're staying in the engine shed here!)

A three phase, long bed machine complete with:

  • three and four jaw chucks
  • two faceplates
  • two chuck spanners
  • spare tailstock (bought because it has a graduated spindle which was going to be swapped for the one in the original tailstock)
  • fixed & travelling steadies
  • tailstock chuck
  • manufacturer's handbook

For collection from site at Boston, Lincolnshire with level access and hard standing.
