James Booth's rectilinear engine - stock code 11687

A finely made example of James Booth's rectilinear engine, built to the Anthony Mount design based on an1843 prototype.

The work of a highly accomplished model engineer, with traction engines, steam wagons, locomotives, stationary engines - both steam and internal combustion - as well as a fine clock to his credit, workmanship is to a high standard although there remains work to finish off.

There is a tight spot on the upstroke - we think requiring resetting of the guidebars - which precludes low speed running. The bearing caps are loose - if tightened it creates undue friction, the bearings require either line reaming or scraping to correct.
