A MkI model, dating it as pre-1963 (although the design had been manufatured since before the war), it's in remarkable condition. The slideways still bear the scraper marks from manufacture, the paintwork appears original. The 18 x 7 inch tee-slotted table is in excellent condition, running smoothly on leadscrews with large, five inch diameter micrometer handwheels.
Whilst intended as a high-precision jig borer, many were used as light duty milling machines - exactly as this one has been. Of very solid construction, it is mounted on a cast iron box stand with storage for collects and accessories beneath.
Belt driven, the machine is fitted with balanced pulleys giving eight spindle speeds, from 275 to 4250 rpm.
Spindle has 3 inches of movement, with the optional power down feed.
Currently fitted with a three phase motor which the previous owner operated from a phase converter - if desired it would be straightforward to replace it with a half horsepower single phase motor.
Complete with a set of 1/8" to 1/2" collets, milling vice and a dividing head fitted with three jaw chuck.
Very taken with this one - it's a beautifully made, high precision machine in exceptional condition for its age; its compact footprint very convenient for a smaller workshop.
