Started by a gentleman who's interest then moved to model boats, this is an early stage build of an agricultural traction engine to Len Mason's "Minnie" design. As well as almost a complete set of castings, there is a brand new silver-soldered boiler by Reeves, a set of drawings and a well-thumbed copy of the book "Scale Model Traction Engine Building featuring Minnie" which gives a highly detailed guide to building this popular beginner's engine.
Work to date comprises:
New silver soldered copper boiler by Reeves with
hornplates fitted
Part-built smokebox with door
Pair of well made rear wheels, complete with strakes and hub caps
One spoked front wheel, rims, spokes and jig to build the other
Set of spur gears, complete with jig for establishing shaft centres
Pair flanged tender sides
Wire winch rope
Part-machined chimney
Perch bracket, fork and front axle
Parts and unmachined castings include:
Cylinder block c/w valve and regulator chests
Flywheel
Eccentric straps
Steering wheel
Motion plate saddle
Shaft bearings
Steering chain
Steering gears
There's a picture of a completed engine to this design in the
