An early stage "Columbia", Martin Evans' take on an American Baldwin-type 4-8-4. Given the size of the prototype machines, it comes out as a massive piece of kit even in 3 1/2 inch gauge with 4 1/2 inch drivers and 1 5/8 x 2 inch bore and stroke. Work to date is to a decent standard, the chassis pushes along freely with all rods fitted, the cylinders are part-machined. Complete with a set of drawings.
Parts and castings available from Blackgates Engineering, the construction series was written up in "Model Engineer", volume 144-146.
Length 43 inches (I estimate the tender would add another 30 inches when assembled)
