A good start for a beginner wanting to build LBSC's "Tich" - I know it's fashionable these days to say a beginner should build something bigger, but it's what I started with and I still think it's a great design. A well-made one pulls two adults without any trouble and they have an amazing turn of speed (particularly so given the two inch diameter driving wheels). The entire thing is within the realms of the most modest machinery to build, boilermaking requires only a small propane torch.
Work to date is to a decent standard, there are plenty of unmachined castings to keep you busy for a few months. Boiler is about half done - solder penetration is good, plates are neatly formed - and requires backhead, front tubeplate and foundation ring putting in.
