I think this is lovely - a pedal-powered London Bus, completed in the early 1960s for the builder's then five year old son and based on what was even then a vintage tricycle, complete with fabric band brake to the rear axle.
It's recently come to us with a number of the builder's other models, including a Foden steam tractor and Scammell Mechanical Horse in 4 1/2 inch scale and a 3 inch scale Quarry Hunslet in 7 1/4 inch gauge. A prolific builder, his work extending to traction engines, locomotives and even a pedal-powered 10 1/4 inch gauge steam outline garden railway, which remains with the family, no doubt to delight future generations.
