Highly-detailed, the engine has a  multi-tube coal-fired boiler, Stephenson's reversing gear and two speed road  gears selected from the footplate. The cylinder is fitted with a displacement  lubricator and rod-operated drain cocks. There is a working band brake on the  rear offside wheel and winch on the nearside. Boiler water is fed by injector or  handpump, which is hidden in the tender.
