As regular followers of these pages know, we are  currently building a batch of three two foot gauge Bagnalls at the moment - with  the original works drawings my constant companion these last few months, it's  uncanny to see how faithfully this model has followed the original. Just one  example - the original Bagnall drawings show an angle iron rivetted to the top  of the frame plates, just over the top of the expansion link trunnion block  lubricator which would stop its lid hinging open. Just as we found, you need to  mill a slot out of the angle (although the tiny little slot the builder of this  one had to make in brass was probably a sight quicker to do than the ones we  made in quarter inch steel).    \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWork to date comprises a largely complete chassis, cast iron cylinders with  slide valves actuated by Bagnall Price valve gear. Horns are authentic Bagnall  pattern, full-width at the front forming a combined hornblock\/stretcher assembly  (we've got six full-sized ones machined sitting next to the machining centre in  the workshop at the moment, they look just the same, if a bit heavier to move  about). Silver soldered copper boiler is finely flanged and neatly soldered  together, it's marked with test and working pressure stamped on the backhead.
