The engine runs very quietly - the loudest sound being the clicking of the lubricator pawl - with little discernible wear in the motion work and valve gear. Free-steaming, it kept itself in water and pressure without need of the blower, notching up in either direction and running with crisp, even exhaust beats.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    The axle pump is well-matched to the demands of the boiler, keeping a constant level when running whilst not slowing the engine.
