It's a lovely old engine, built to LBSC's rarely-seen  \" \"Miss Ten to Eight\" design, based on the North Eastern R1. It came  from a local lady, now retired, she remembers being given rides around the  garden on it by her father in the 1960s - he sounds an interesting gentleman, in  addition to his garden railway, he was an enthusiastic restorer and tuner of  Austin Sevens.    \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSilver soldered copper boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by injector, axle  and hand pumps. The boiler has a pair of superheater flues although no elements  - a pair of copper flue-tube superheaters could be knocked up from a couple of  feet of pipe and installed over a weekend if desired. Gunmetal cylinders with  slide valves actuated by Joy valve gear, pole reverser in cab. Mechanical  lubricator.    \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe engine has probably not been steamed in forty years - it came in somewhat  dusty, having been on display in the owner's house since she inherited it. It is  in good mechanical condition, well-made originally and still runs very smoothly  on air, the boiler has had a hydraulic test at twice working pressure and is in  sound condition. It requires minor work to steam including replacement of the  smokebox door locking bar and attention to a leaky clack valve.
