There are substantial chunks of lead ballasting the chassis and wear evident in the motionwork and valve gear; paintwork has a lovely faded patina, the much oiled brightwork has gently tarnished over the years.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    It could be cleaned up considerably - the paint would come up with a drop of turps and linseed, the motionwork would come back bright with a little paraffin, Scotchbrite and some elbow grease.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    But we really wouldn't bother - it would be a shame to lose what is probably sixty years of history.
