Started in the 1980s, the engine was first steamed in the  builder's back garden in June 2009, followed by a club test in August of the  same year. Playing somewhat of a second fiddle to the Britannia he built, the 9F  was little used and only had one more club test - in August 2013.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eSilver soldered superheated copper boiler, 100psi working  pressure, feed by injector with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Cast iron  cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert's gear, screw reverser in  cab, mechanical lubricator.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eBuild quality is not bad - certainly better than the paintwork  suggests, everything looks straight and the engine runs along freely.
