{"product_id":"5-inch-gauge-gwr-28xx-2-8-0-stock-code-12644","title":"5 inch gauge GWR 28XX 2-8-0","description":"A 5 inch gauge GWR 28XX 2-8-0, Churchward's heavy freight design introduced in 1905.\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Something of a rare beast, \u003ca href=\"\/products\/5-inch-gauge-gwr-2-8-0-stock-code-3092\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ethe last 28XX we had sold way back in 2007\u003c\/a\u003e - there must be nearly as many full-sized examples preserved as there are models in this gauge!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Completed in recent years - the boiler dates from 2020 - the locomotive runs, it has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Offered as a \"running restoration\", it could be used as-is, although with a list of - mainly minor - jobs required to bring it up to scratch, including:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cul\u003e    \u003cli\u003eservice safety valves - lift ok and don't accumulate, but don't shut reliably without encouragement\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003eservice RH injector water valve which leaks air, causing intermittent operation of that injector\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003ereplace missing water gauge blowdown handle\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003eregulator handle currently loosely fitted to enable it to clear valves, it needs a spacer making and fitting\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003eservice\/replace automatic drain cocks which are unreliable\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003ereset valves - the engine runs ok forwards, although with room for improvement; it has a dead spot in reverse\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003cli\u003efit stiffer tender springs\u003c\/li\u003e  \u003c\/ul\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Built to a pedestrian standard, although offering much potential for improvement.
