5-inch-gauge-scamp-stock-code-3014
5 inch gauge "Scamp"

Built in 2003, this is a well made example of an 0-4-0 shunting engine to David Malcolm's "Scamp" design.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in side tank. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's valve gear with pole reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator mounted on running board. Screw down brake.

Complete with the builder's log book, it has had little use and is in good order throughout. The paintwork is in good condition, I find the pea green rather appealing (although boiler fittings and plumbing picked out in red would have to go). There is one small patch atop the cab where the paint is heat marked. The cab lifts off easily for driving.

Very easy to handle in 5 inch gauge, the engine is a comfortable one man lift and will go on the back seat of the smallest of cars (and I speak as a small back-seated car owner) - from my experience of this design in the past, I rate it as a good, easy-to-maintain introduction to firing and driving in this gauge.

Length 22 1/2 inches
Weight approx 50 pounds
