It's got a Greenly-esque look about it (rather like the    “King Arthur” I sold a week or two back) with substantially proportioned    valve gear and a slightly overscale appearance.  \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e      \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e    Friend Alan (he who features on many of my videos, honorary development driver    for “Stafford” and the maniac who went flat-out down the back straight on    the Britannia “Lord Hurcomb”, amongst other things) acquired this engine    sans tender some years ago and overhauled it to a running state. Being the man    he is, he didn't worry too much about minor details like platework or a cab, a    spare tender chassis was pressed into service with a basic water tank fitted,    incorporating a serious-sized hand pump and he was in business.  \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e      \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e    It was driven with elan at our club (indeed I drove it there a couple of    summers ago) – the club boiler put down, rather enigmatically in the    “notes” section of the boiler ticket, “over engineered”. It finally    came here with a van load of other engines from the great man when he came    over all 7 1\/4-ish and decided to buy a Sweet William to run at the club    (which has been that much of a success he's now in the process of building    another one).  \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e      \u003c\/div\u003e  \u003cdiv\u003e    The engine is in running order, depending on how easily you get embarrassed it    could be run as is or, alternatively, finished off with some platework and a    decent paint job.
