His engines have appeared in these pages on more than one occasion and include the \u003ca href=\"\/products\/7-14-inch-gauge-lswr-adams-o2-0-4-2t-stock-code-5272\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eLSWR Adams 0-4-2T\u003c\/a\u003e, supremely elegant \u003ca href=\"\/products\/7-14-inch-gauge-secr-wainwright-d-stock-code-11414\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eSE\u0026amp;CR Wainwright “D”\u003c\/a\u003e and magnificent \u003ca href=\"\/products\/7-14-inch-gauge-gwr-47xx-2-8-0-stock-code-11628\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eGreat Western 47XX.\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Anno domini and failing eyesight have finally called a halt to building and driving model locomotives, the time came recently when he decided to move on the last two engines left in his collection – a 7 ¼ inch gauge \u003ca href=\"\/products\/7-14-inch-gauge-lbscr-d1-class-0-4-2t-stock-code-11873\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eLB\u0026amp;SCR D1 0-4-2T\u003c\/a\u003e and this, a 5 inch gauge Mogul.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    One of a batch of three 5 inch gauge U-class locomotives - the other two went to customers once completed - this one was intended – in the words of the builder – “as a play engine for myself, with all bells and whistles”.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    Construction has continued over a period of fourteen years, fitted in between commissions which included a wide range of locomotives in 5 and 7 ¼ inch gauge, including a batch of three LW\u0026amp;WR 02s, a Terrier, a Duchess, two Castles, a GWR “City of Truro”, the Wainwright D and 47XX mentioned above, and another Southern Mogul (in 7 ¼ inch gauge). It really does bring a whole new meaning to “prolific”!\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    We'll let the pictures opposite tell the story on this one.
