This engine has been in build  from many years - the last owner inherited the project nearly twenty five years  ago from a friend who had started it.    \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWork to date comprises a largely complete rolling chassis with much of the  motion work and valve gear made, some of it assembled. Copper boiler is silver  soldered, it's (just) a two man lift. Saddle tank is in brass, remainder of  platework and tender is in sheet steel.    \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOne of my favourite engines since 1969 when I first visited the FR (standing  in the booking office with No.2 son recently I remarked to the young lady  selling us a ticket that it was nearly fifty years since I first holidayed in  Porthmadog with my parents - both she and son looked at me as if I was an  ancient monument) - I think the steeply raked cylinders give the class an  immensely purposeful air.
