He'd previously built, amongst other things, the WW1 Hunslet "Somme" which we sold back in 2016.

The engine has had regular club use since completion in the hands of its builder. The trailer, included with the engine, is well thought out with he driving truck stowed on one side for transport, rails and lashing points for the locomotive and a tonneau cover. On the 150 mile journey back to Lincolnshire it towed very well.

The engine has been through the workshops for servicing, with some rebushing to the bottom end to take up minor wear. The commercially built copper boiler by Kingswood is pressed to 100psi, it has club history and, since arriving with us has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.

The design sticks closely to the prototype, with much detailing including the unusual brass, rather than steel, handrails on tanks and bunker, dummy glass-topped mechanical lubricator and steam pump (which, whilst built as a working pump, like many we see in this scale is best regarded as decorative!)

The engine steams freely and runs well - there's some video of it on our YouTube channel here.

Complete with the road trailer shown, Ride on Railways four wheel braked driving truck with spare body, steam-raising blower, sundry tools for maintenance - and a set of "Graf Schwerin-Löwitz" nameplates (which we wouldn't be able to resist fitting!).

If you haven't visited the Brecon Mountain Railway it's well worth a visit, they have excellent engineering faciltiies and some interesting locomotives there, with more information about the Arn Jung on their website here.

Interesting snippet - Hans Axel Tammo Graf von Schwerin-Löwitz was born in 1847 and, until 1881, was an officer and Flügeladjutant in Saxony.
