juliet-ii-stock-code-2793
Juliet II

An 0-4-0 tank engine, built to LBSC's hugely popular "Juliet" design - this is the later "Juliet II" with Baker valve gear, much favoured by the great man.

Silver-soldered superheated copper boiler, feed by injector and hand pump. Working pressure 80psi. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valve actuated by Baker valve gear with pole reverser in cab. Drain cocks rod-operated from cab.

The boiler is in good condition with new certificate, the engine runs well and is particularly quiet when notched up. Motion work is nicely machined, fitted and finished. The injector's one of the tiniest squirts I've seen, but does an efficient job. There are all sorts of sensible little details on the engine, drain valve for the side tanks, blowdown valve with a tool provided that fits through the rear cab sheet to allow for easy access - little things that make looking after it that bit easier.

A Juliet was the first small steam engine I drove, when time came for him to learn (5th birthday - can't start 'em too young), a Juliet was the engine Sam learned on too. Drive one of these well and you can probably drive anything (except a 2 inch Clayton wagon, but let's not get into that here).

Length 20 inches
Weight 40 pounds
