I bought this last year intending to complete and use it myself, little knowing that by the end of the year I would own three big Baldwins (now four!) including the K36. By way of rationalisation, this one is now up for sale.
Professionally built to Don Young's "Maxi 7" design of the engine Baldwin built for the two foot gauge Bridgton & Harrison Railroad. Bar-framed chassis with compensated springing and ball-bearing axle boxes - at nearly one ton the engine can be pushed along easily by hand. It's close to running on air, requiring only big ends and eccentric rods to be made. New cast iron pistons on stainless steel rods are supplied, along with piston rings.

The boiler was built by Franklin & Bell four years ago and has all paperwork and its initial hydraulic test, constructed of 10mm plate (ie: it will last longer than you will!).

7 1/4 inch versions of this well-proven Don Young design are scarce and well-suited to heavy duty commercial work. Castings are still available from Reeves, a full set of drawings is included.

The prototype engine, #7, survives preserved at the Edaville Railroad Museum in Massachusetts.

Length 120 inches
Weight complete 1 ton
