I bought this one back in March 2009 - having taken the pictures and written it up, Mrs P then decided it was just the thing for the living room. There it's been until, a couple of weeks ago, a very fine Stuart Major beam came in. Having told her that two beam engines in the house is probably one too many, it's time for this one to go.
Certainly the finest beam engine I've had in, built in 1978 from the H.Clarkson castings for a 1 inch scale Sanderson engine of 1846. It is beautifully executed, fit and finish of all parts is excellent. The engine is mounted on a wooden base with an inlet pipe allowing it to be operated on air - it will run slowly, silently and completely evenly on, literally, a breath of air.
