The work of the man who built a rather good Allchin and Lion I have sold in recent years, as well as the three cylinder Anzani engine currently in stock, this is a replica "Stirling Silver II" built to the Darlington/Strong design, published in "Stirling and Hot Air Engines". Originally conceived for model boat use as a practical alternative to a steam plant, the original engine would run for three hours on a canister of gas.
This engine has been run by the builder. I've tried it in the workshop here - fit of all parts is good and it turns over smoothly, but I think it needs a heavier flywheel to balance out the high compression it exhibits. The engine is water cooled, complete with pump and radiator - in the original application, the hot water was simply pumped overboard.
