Largest of the Stuart Turner steam engines, the 6A is a marine compound twin, designed for powering boats from 18 to 22 feet long and developing 4bhp at 750 rpm at 120psi working pressure.
Acquired by its previous owner to power a 6 inch scale steam wagon, it was not ultimately used (mainly because we sold him a 6 inch wagon which already had an engine...). Quite nicely made in the first place, and fitted with boiler feed and air pumps, it's now in need of an overhaul (and definitely a repaint). A worthwhile project, it has the potential to make a decent example of a useful-sized engine.
