The "upper works" comprises a horizontal engine with Stephenson's reversing gear, fitted onto a platform atop the boiler, The flywheel end of the crankshaft has taken a good clonk at some time in the past resulting in a bent mainshaft which will need straightening under a press.
We suspect it was originally spirit fired, although there is no burner. Somebody has fashioned a basic "grate" by drilling some holes in a flat plate, possibly with the idea of firing using solid fuel tablets as used in later Mamods and Wilescos.
Appears complete and largely original other than the replacement tank filler caps and safety valve.
