"Williamson" engine - stock code 8855

We bought this engine back in 2019, part of a large collection of locomotives and stationary engines we collected from the Isle of Man. It sold back then to a long-time customer who is reducing his collection following a house move. The engine is in much the same condition as when last here - it turns over freely although currently doesn't run on air - the valve chest cover leaks and, we suspect, the eccentric and/or slide valve needs resetting.

One of the more rarely-seen models from the Stuart range, a "Williamson" engine, designed by "Tubal Cain" and serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine in 1976.

A particularly attractive design, it was based on an engine produced by the Williamson Brothers of Kendal, Westmorland which was shown at the International Exhibition of 1862.
