4 inch scale Burrell SCC traction engine

Complete the form below to enquire about this product and we'll be in touch.

A 4 inch scale Burrell SCC agricultural engine, one of a batch of three engines started many years ago by a professional engineer, a man who spent his working life with Lloyds responsible, amongst other things, for the approval of boiler designs.

Plan was to build one engine for each of his children - to that end he bought commercially made boilers and professionally cut gears, with cylinder blocks machined by John Rex.

Work to date is to a high standard, many of the parts stamped up with their respective engine number. It includes:

  • CE marked boiler with manufacturer's documentation and initial Lloyds twice working pressure hydraulic test certificate
  • Ashpan
  • Professionally cut gears, including differential
  • Machined flywheel
  • Steering worm, worm wheel, shaft and chains
  • Front and rear wheels
  • Machined cylinder block
  • Part-machined crankshaft
  • Crankshaft main bearings and housing
  • Smokebox and perch bracket and front axle assembly, with chimney, cap and base
  • Unmachined castings including steering and brake wheels, eccentrics, tender step, weighshaft bracket etc

A handsome, technically interesting design, we've sold several of these over the years, including this finely built engine.
