5 inch gauge "Metre Maid" 0-6-0T

A 5 inch gauge "Metre Maid", the 0-6-0 variant of Jack Buckler's hugely popular "Sweet Pea" design.

An interesting engine, it's been built with Joy valve gear in place of the more usual Hackworth. Allegedly a fine performer in its day, the engine has been unused for some years and, on test in the workshop, ran in desultory fashion with a good amount of flexing of the motion brackets.

The boiler appeared structurally sound on hydraulic test, although with a slight leak evident on the left hand throatplate stay. Not a difficult fix once the boiler has been dismounted, the stay head could be calked with Comsol.
