1 inch scale Maxwell Hemmens Showmans tractor

A 1 inch scale Maxwell Hemmens coal-fired Showmans Tractor, built from a kit and unsteamed from new.

Substantially complete, the engine turns over freely and runs on air in either direction. It needs a final "tighten up" of the hornplate bolts and it's missing the chimney cap, a plug from the bottom water gauge fitting, steam-raising chimney - all easily turned from stock material - and the brass olivers. The canopy is complete, with some crazing to the white paint.

Highly regarded when produced in the 1980s and 90s, Maxwell Hemmens produced a range of high quality models, including locomotives, traction engines and stationary engines, many of which can be found in our archive pages.
