3 inch scale Atkinson steam wagon

A 3 inch scale Atkinson steam wagon, an engine we've sold a couple of times in the past, most recently in 2023.

It first came to us as a newly-finished though non-running engine in 2007, then passed through a couple of new owners in quick succession until it finally caught the eye of one of our long-time customers - a highly experienced engineer - who stripped the thing and reassembled it, producing a thoroughly well-sorted wagon, one of the nicest examples we've ever had. There are pictures and a video of it taken at that time in the archive.

Since it arrived back the commercially-built boiler by Kingswood has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued. Photographs opposite were taken last week, the video dates from last year - it still runs beautifully, a thoroughly nice machine to drive.

Since last with us a dog clutch has been fitted, allowing the engine to be run out of gear (they're normally fixed - if the engine's running, the wagon's moving). A nice feature, it allows the engine-driven boiler feed pump to be used when stationary.

Supplied with firing irons and starter kit of coal and oil. If required we would be more than happy to include training at our works on the firing, driving and disposal of the engine for a new owner.
