5 inch gauge GWR 45XX 2-6-2T

A 5 inch gauge GWR Small Prairie to Martin Evans' "Firefly" design, an exceptionally well-built engine at an advanced stage.

Work to date is to an excellent standard - fit and finish of machined parts is very good, with taper pins fitted to motionwork and valve gear. The chassis runs beautifully on air with crisp, even beats in either direction.

The commercially built CE-marked copper boiler was supplied new for the project in 2016.

Complete with a small quantity of loose parts, including cylinder cladding sheets, buffers, hand pump, steam brake cylinder and other small parts, along with a set of drawings.

As ever, Model Engineers Laser stock a range of profiled parts to fast-built this design, including brass running boards, cab and tanks.
