5 inch gauge LNER B1

A 5 inch gauge LNER B1, built to exhibition standard with reference to works drawings. The work of a highly experienced engineer, we have previously sold his 2 inch scale Clayton steam wagon and a superb part-built Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-6-0

There's not much we can write about this one that the pictures opposite don't more eloquently convey. Built to an exceptional standard throughout, it's one of the those models where the longer you look at it, the more you see.

If we started listing all the things we like we'd be here all day; however, amongst many other details, the beautifully made stainless steel superheaters caught our eye - individually bolted to the wet header with PTFE seals for ease of future maintenance, they're both elegant and practical.

Largely complete apart from minor details and painting - the only job the builder doesn't enjoy.

Complete with a large quantity of notes and drawings, along with jigs and templates used in the build - the steel press tool made for dimpling the cab steps just one example of the builder's fastidious attention to detail.
