5 inch gauge LNER Y4 0-4-0T

A nicely built 5 inch gauge LNER Y4 0-4-0T - an attractive, though rarely modelled design, it's a mystery to us why more haven't been built.

The engine steams freely and runs well in either direction, with some wear apparent in motionwork bushes and axleboxes. The paintwork is in good, bright condition with some minor wear.

Well-detailed, the fit and finish of machined parts is good, pipework and platework is all well formed and neatly assembled.

The locomotive is fitted with a screw down brake - there is a steam brake cylinder fitted, although apparently unused in many years, it would require stripping and servicing if intended to be used in any meaningful way.

The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued. We've fitted a new 18oz injector, pair of safety valves and replaced the axle pump O-ring seal, which had been leaking when the engine first arrived with us.

The engine is fitted with a hand pump although we've listed it as without - it has a broken handle, requiring repair or replacement. Whilst not an involved job to repair once on the bench, its removal would inevitably cause some damage to the paintwork; for that reason - and with an effective axle pump and injector - we decided to leave well alone.
