5 inch gauge "Simplex" 0-6-0T

A 5 inch gauge freelance 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' seminal "Simplex" design, first serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine and the mainstay of many a club's passenger-hauling fleet ever since.

This one came to us as part of a collection of steam and battery-electric locomotives. An older engine, well-built originally it's had recent hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.

Servicing in the workshop included fitting Viton O-rings to the pistons, replacing the old nitrile ones which had started to leak.

On test it proved free-steaming and ran well in either direction, the only thing subsequently requiring attention was adjustment of the piston rod glands, now done.
