7 1/4 inch gauge Bridget 0-4-2T

A well-made 7 1/4 inch gauge 0-4-2T to Ken Swan's excellent "Bridget" design. An older engine with some age-related wear to the paintwork, but in good running order with free-steaming boiler and a chassis which runs exceptionally well, notching up close to mid gear in either direction.

We've tested the boiler off the frames with cladding removed, followed by steam test after reassembly, with new certification issued.

The original safety valves which didn't inspire confidence have been replaced, new gauge glasses have been fitted.

The axle pump works beautifully and is well-matched to the requirements of the boiler, it can be left on without causing a drastic drop in pressure. Hand pump is effective, the injector works although is on the large size for the boiler - it could be replaced with either a 25oz or even 18oz to advantage.

A good example of this popular 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotive - we like this one.
