7 1/4 inch gauge "Holmside" 0-6-0T

A 7 1/4 inch gauge Coal Board 0-6-0ST to Martin Evans' powerful "Holmside" design, serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine in 1977/78.

Regular readers may recognise the locomotive - we first had it back in 2018 then again last year in 2024, it's one of the better examples of the design we've seen (no mean feat, considering the competition).

Built to a good standard originally and remaining in good mechanical condition, the engine steams freely and runs well.

Last time the engine was here, boiler feed was by one injector drawing water from the saddle tank. It's since had a second injector fitted, with both now drawing from an external water supply.

The engine is fitted with a front derailing bar and vacuum brake equipment, comprising steam valve, driver's brake valve, gauge and limiter.

The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests; the engine is offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil.
