Shun Shin SSB-4ML 5 x 16 BGSC lathe

A 5 x 16 backgeared screwcutting lathe, this one came to us from the workshop of a prolific engineer responsible for, amongst other locomotives, a 5 inch gauge B1 and GWR 15XX, along with a 3 1/2 inch gauge South African Class 15.

In running order, it's had recent PAT test with a new plug fitted. Complete with three chucks - one three jaw, two four jaw, one of which doesn't have a key - keyless tailstock chuck and a fixed steady.

Fitted with metric dials and quick change screwcutting gearbox with thread indicator on the saddle.

The lathe has power longitudinal and cross feeds - longitudinal works fine, cross feed works after a fashion, but disengages under load. No graunchy noises, so we assume it's simply some adjustment that's required.
