5 inch gauge LMS Black 5

Now, with an 80th birthday on the horizon, he's decided it's time to rationalise the projects in the workshop to concentrate on his 5 inch gauge B1 and 3 inch scale Allchin - both nearing completion but needing a push to get them over the line!

This one started out as a part set of kits from ModelWorks, missing driving wheels, cylinders, pipework, fittings and various other bits and pieces. Replacement wheel and cylinder castings were bought and machined up, new connecting and coupling rods made to replace the crudely profiled original components.

The chassis is largely complete, in addition there is a box full of loose parts, including:

• Silver soldered, CE-marked copper boiler, with brass cladding sheets and lagging
• Stainless steel grate and ashpan assembly
• Smokebox, door and chimney
• Dome
• Profiled brass cab platework
• Parts for tender including frames, wheels, axles and profiled brass platework

• Complete with manufacturer's test certificate for boiler and a set of assembly instructions.
