Vintage horizontal mill engine

A vintage horizontal mill engine, scratch built and with a look of some antiquity about it, carrying a maker's plate "G Bates, Maker, Tunbridge".

Turns over freely and runs on air, the engine is fitted with a Watt type governor which is missing one of the flyweights.

Crankshaft carries an eccentric for the slide valve and another for a boiler feed pump, mounted in the base although missing the eccentric rod.
