Well-made demonstration model of Walschaert's valve gear constructed in burnished steel with wooden case. The model operates very smoothly and the gear can be reversed with the screw reverser mounted on top.
The brass plate attached is inscribed "Walschaert Valve Gear. Made by the apprentices of the Darlington Locomotive Works training school 1963".
