3 1/2 inch gauge Juliet

A venerable example of a 3 1/2 inch gauge "Juliet II" 0-4-0T, the Baker valve gear variant of LBSC's popular beginner's tank engine. The design was serialised in "Model Engineer", starting in 1946. It proved popular over many years, if ultimately eclipsed in fame by little sister "Tich", published in 1950.

The boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued; feed is by injector and hand pump - the original axle pump has been removed, only the eccentric sheave remaining.

The chassis runs on air in somewhat desultory fashion in both directions, with some wear apparent in the motionwork.
