5 inch gauge part-built "Simplex" frames & castings

A set of erected frames, machined and unmachined castings for a 5 inch gauge "Simplex" to the Martin Evans design.

Designed as a straightforward build for beginners and serialised in "Model Engineer" in the 1960s, hundreds must have been built over the years. Well represented at clubs all over the country, they are powerful whilst still a manageable size.
