1 1/2 inch scale Allchin agricultural engine

An exceptionally well made 1 1/2 inch scale Allchin agricultural engine, to Bill Hughes' "Royal Chester" design.

This one has come to us direct from the builder, a long-time customer and engineer whose work we rate highly. Although mainly concentrating on 5 inch gauge locomotives, with a prolific output of same, regular readers may also remember his finely built 3 inch scale Fowler A7 agricultural engine as well as a superb restoration of a rare 1 1/2 inch scale Fowler B6.

Fit and finish of machined parts is excellent throughout. The platework is neatly flanged and riveted, paintwork and lining was done to a high standard and remains in ex-works condition.

Kept on display in the builder's house since completion, the engine turns over freely. In deference to the paint finish, we haven't attempted to test the boiler - although would warranty as sound, it's a beautifully made thing - nor investigated a fault, we suspect with the regulator, currently preventing the engine from running on air.
