2 1/2 inch gauge Atlantic

A 2 1/2 inch gauge Great Northern Atlantic, an older engine which appears to have had very little use - possibly only steamed to test it when new.

This one has come to us from the builder's son. We have no history for the boiler although it appeared structurally sound and leak free on hydraulic test - we would warranty it as sound.

The engine runs on air in forwards gear, not in reverse. There is no pressure gauge, the mechanical pump eccentric sheave is loose on the axle.

A worthwhile project, its diminutive size makes a change from all the 3 1/2 inch gauge Atlantics we see; the Walschaerts valve gear rarely seen in this type of model.
