3 1/2 inch gauge LNER A1/1 Pacific "Hielan Lassie"

A venerable example of an LNER Pacific to LBSC's "Hielan Lassie" design.

Built in the 1950s by a Mr J Wilshin, it was acquired by its previous owner - a professional engineer - in 1968 and put aside as a retirement project. Many other projects intervened over the years, including designing and building award-winning 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotives until recently, at 93 years old, he decided he may not get around to finishing this one...

However, in preparation for restarting work in 2019 he had the boiler tested at his club, with new certification issued for the twice working pressure shell test undertaken - the serial number C1955 was stamped on at that time, his best guess as to when the boiler had been built.

The project includes a rolling chassis, complete with cylinders; axle pump; motionwork and much of the valve gear, needing return cranks and eccentric rods to complete.

The eight wheel tender has a rolling chassis and well made brass tank.

Complete with drawings, various parts and castings and a pair of purpose built carrying crates.
