45mm narrow gauge Steamlines Aileen 0-4-0T "Hugh Beringar"

A 45mm gauge "Aileen" 0-4-0T by Steamlines, introduced as a kit-build engine in the early nineties. Designed to 3/4 inch scale, it was based on the three foot gauge Andrew Barclay 0-4-0T No.840 of 1899.

Early examples had a single cylinder oscillating engine between the frames with dummy outside cylinders. Later engines - including this one - had conventional piston-valve cylinders.

The boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued. We've steamed the engine - it goes well, although will need the safety valve either servicing or replacing.
