45mm gauge Aster DB P38 4-6-0

A spirit-fired gauge 1 DB P38 4-6-0 by Aster, a spirit-fired locomotive.

Originally built as P8s for the Prussian Railway built between 1906 and 1923, they were designed as robust, easy to maintain locomotives and fitted with the recently developed Schmidt superheaters (the same type were specified by Billinton of the LB&SCR for his K-class Mogul, the first locomotive to haul 1000 ton trains in this country).

Several thousand locomotives were built over the years, with several surviving into preservation.

In good condition, although it's fair to say we found it a shy steaming engine, even with the benefit of new burner wicks!
