45mm gauge Aster JNR C62

A 45mm gauge Japanese National Railways C62 by Aster Hobbies.

Built between 1948 and 1949, the C62 was the fastest passenger-hauling steam locomotive to run in Japan, in 1954 breaking the world speed record for the fastest narrow-gauge steam locomotive.

The C62 model was first released by Aster in 1978 as a headline feature of their first catalogue, at that time supplied with a coal-fired boiler. However, the model proved so popular that two subsequent batches were produced, firstly in 1991 with a boiler that could be converted between spirit and coal firing, and later in 2003, convertible between coal and gas.

This example is from the 1991 batch, currently configured for spirit-firing but convertible to coal-firing with the addition of a grate.

We've issued new hydraulic and steam certificates, it runs well in both directions.
