5 inch gauge BR 9F 2-10-0

A 5 inch gauge BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0, a locomotive which started out as a kit-built engine.

It's come to us from the workshop of a commercial model engineer whose work we greatly admire - the engine arrived with him several years ago for "attention", the brief to complete assembly and get it running.

Work proceeded between other jobs over the years, in the course of which it has acquired reworked motionwork and valve gear as well as a new copper boiler, the work of another highly skilled engineer and long time customer of ours.

The engine was at a stage where it had been steam tested and run when advancing years meant the owner decided to call it a day with further development, since when it's sat under the bench.

Complete and free-rolling, the engine runs on air; the boiler has previous club history and a recent hydraulic test with new certification issued, we would warranty as sound.
